MPI Aloha Chapter Business Plan
MPI Aloha Chapter Mission Statement: Meeting Professionals International Aloha Chapter is the leading local membership community committed to shaping and defining the meeting and event industry in the Hawaiian Islands.
Vision: 2007-2008 is an exciting year for Meeting Professionals International with the shift in direction of the organization. The vision of building a rich global meetings industry community will be the driving force by which the Aloha Chapter will operate in 2007-2008. Our vision is to build a strong chapter. We will accomplish this through increased visibility and recognition of our activities, and inspiring our members to connect more with one another at both the local and international level.
Strategic Action Plans The following summarizes our 2007-2008 business plan. Details of each area are outlined in the action plans submitted by each board member, (see attached).
Awards Banquet The Aloha Chapter has been in existence now for 10 years. To celebrate this milestone, we will hold our first ever awards banquet to recognize and honor our members. Recognition will be given to 5-year, 10-year, 15-year, and 20-year members. Awards will be given to the Planner of the Year, Supplier of the Year, Rising Star, and Aloha Spirit Award.
Education 6 educational programs will be offered to benefit our members. Members will have the opportunity to connect with one another and will also hear from speakers that will discuss current topics and issues that are relevant. We will increase the number of Certified Meeting Professionals (CMPs) by offering study groups and administering the CMP exam.
Communications The Aloha Chapter will increase its visibility and receive more exposure in 2007-2008. Press releases will be distributed to local media and national trade publications of all Aloha Chapter activities. The website will be enhanced and will be more interactive with members being able to connect with one another. We will continue our charitable efforts by donating funds and goods to our local charities in need and will receive media coverage recognizing our efforts.
Membership The chapter grant program for planners will continue in 2007-2008 with 3 grants being given to qualified planners. We will begin a student membership by targeting the local universities. Our members reside on 6 islands. Most of our members are located on the island of O‘ahu where the majority of our events are held, thus making it a challenge for neighbor islands to attend. In order for our neighbor island members to feel more connected, we will implement a “pau hana” (after work) program where members on all islands will meet informally at the same time to “talk story”.
Finance We will remain financially sound by effectively managing our funds. The selling of Hawaiian Christmas ornaments to meeting planners attending the PRIME event two years ago was highly successful and we will offer this again in November 2007. We will also offer an online silent auction to raise funds.
Administration The standard operating procedures will be updated and all board members will be knowledgeable in all areas of administration.
COTY Award In 2007-2008 the Aloha Chapter will strive towards the COTY award. All board members will be held accountable to meet all deadlines and will keep accurate documentation of all activities.
