Aloha Members!

MPI Aloha Chapter’s June 6th Educational Meeting not only brought us a “Green” theme in our excellent speaker- Tamara Kennedy-Hill, the Executive Director of Green Meetings Industry Council, who spoke on how to have Green Meetings here in Hawaii but also presented us the opportunity to showcase during a pre-speaker tradeshow some of Hawaii’s “Green Vendors” and local community outreach efforts.  One community outreach organization featured at the show was a “Blue minded” (as in our blue ocean) organization by the name of B.E.A.C.H. - Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaii.  B.E.A.C.H. is a non-profit, volunteer organization concerned with bringing awareness and solutions to the problem of marine debris and litter on Hawaii’s beaches.  B.E.A.C.H. organizes litter prevention campaigns, educational presentations to schools and community organizations and beach clean-ups in order to educate the community about the need to care for Hawaii’s beaches, coastline and marine life.

We as a Chapter have joined forces with B.E.A.C.H. and become an official member of this organization.  Look for more opportunities in the coming year for members to get involved with B.E.A.C.H.’s efforts because without a clean and beautiful Hawaii, we all know we would not have much of a place to hold a meeting!

For more information about B.E.A.C.H., you can go to their website at www.B-E-A-C-H.org and stay tuned to participate in our efforts as a Chapter.  Mahalo for supporting our MPI Aloha Chapter’s community outreach efforts!
