United Cerebral Palsy's Great Hawaiian Rubber Duckie Race Fundraiser MPI Aloha Chapter's Contribution By: Adele Tasaka
The UCPA Hawaii would like to extend MPI Aloha Chapter their deep appreciation for the member's contribution by adopting a rubber duckie. On March 21, 2009 the Rubber Duckie race took place in the pristine Ala Wai Canal along with a day's festivities at the McCully Shopping Center. A total of $39,000 was raised for this effort and our membership raised a total of $455 in the short time period prior to the March 11th educational meeting that was held at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. I am happy to say that one member's duck won a prize, President-Elect, Philip Richardson. The monies raised will go directly to servicing individuals affected by Cerebral Palsy. CP is a condition that is caused by damage to the brain which usually occurs before, during or after birth. It is not a disease and is not progressive, contagious, or curable. Training and therapy can assist these individuals in living independent and productive lives. Thank you for supporting this community service effort! We look forward to being apart of next year's fundraising efforts.
