Aloha Members!

We have kicked off our 2008-2009 Community Outreach projects with a BANG!  Thanks so much to all of you who brought items for the Waikiki Community Center to our Sept. 17, 2008 educational meeting.  Jeff Apaka, WCC’s Director of Community Relations and all our friends at the WCC were so happy to receive our support.  To find out how you can continue to support the WCC’s ongoing efforts, please visit their website at: www.waikikicommunitycenter.org or you can email Jeff Apaka at: jeff@waikikicommunitycenter.org

At our November 19, 2008 educational meeting we had a food drive for the Hawaii Foodbank.  As many of you may already be familiar, the Hawaii Foodbank is a statewide organization that collects, warehouses and distributes mass quantities of both perishable and non-perishable food to 250 member agencies as well as food banks on the Big Island, Maui and Kauai.  MPI Aloha chapter members raised $211 in cash and 46 pounds of food in just our one luncheon drive effort!   For every $10 of cash donated, the Hawaii Foodbank is able to provide 25 meals.  Our efforts translate into over 525 meals for Hawaii’s people in need.  Thank you for perpetuating our moto of E Kako `o Kakou- “Support each other” with the donated canned food and monetary donations brought to that meeting.  To learn more about the Hawaii Foodbank and how you can continue to help beyond our food drive, please visit their website at www.hawaiifoodbank.org for more information.

We will continue to have many more opportunities in the coming year to spread our MPI aloha to our local community charities.  February will be a “Green” theme month…..Watch for more information regarding our educational meeting plans & outreach efforts!

Lastly, if you would like to be more involved with your MPI Aloha Chapter’s Community Outreach Committee, please contact the Director of Community Outreach, Theresa Tilley at tilleyt001@hawaii.rr.com so I can put you right to work!

Mahalo for supporting our MPI Aloha Chapter’s community outreach efforts!
